Never ever ever try to repeat what I did during last two weeks. It is STRONGLY prohibited to make photos of the buildings in Russia (maybe this rule is also valid in other ex Soviet Union countries, didn't try yet). Please, never come closer to the Moscow City than on the width of the Moskva-river. If you would like to shot the skyscrapers in good perspective and come next to them, the guard guys will appear suddently from nowhere and (not politely) will ask you to go away, so the best place is other embankment of the river (Walking on Moscow_2 and _3).

In case the building belongs to the government, don't even try to turn your camera toward it!!!

Well, if it is museum or mansion you can make photos by very small digital compact camera, please, do not try to make photos of them by mirror camera with tripod like I did by my Canon 5D Mark II - "the woman on the wrong side of thirty" with round glasses cried on me that it was prohibited to make "professional" photos - and it is just because I have money to buy very good camera and make photos for myself only and you will never proof that you are not proffessional photographer only because you have "big" device.

Churches, hm..., you CAN photograph them outside, but never inside. (I've never read the Bible in original and not sure whether it was mentioned somewhere there that it is the sin and still, only in Russia you are not allow to make photos inside "the God houses". I was in Italy, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Spain, Malta, Montenegro, Dominicana, everywhere you can make photos inside churches, abbeys, whatever.... the only rule is not to wear very open clothes). But I know one trick - you just have to prepare your camera before entrance: set up the highest ISO, shutter speed not less than 100, aperture not less than 6-7, open your wide lens, come in quitely right in the centre, make very quickly a couple of shots and go away also very quickly listening the "blames and oathes" while you are going out. That's it! You have the photo of Russian church interior. This way you will never make photo in right HDR style, only fake :)

Gardens - I always knew that if the entrance to somewere is not free you also have to pay separately for photograph and this relates to gardens as well, but! But if the entrance is free you are still prohibited to make photos of the grass. You don't believe me? Than go to the Botanical garden (entrance is free!) in Moscow and try to make photo of the grass/trees with the tripod and "big" camera, again "the woman on the wrong side of thirty" will appear from nowhere and will cry on you that you have to receive the permission from Mr.???? (I don't remember the name, guess it is scientist or Director of the garden...). By the way, this garden is very neglected, only Japanese garden inside it is caried out which is opened in summer and if you would like to make photos other time you have to climb over the fence (it is very convenient for this purpose :) (Walking on Moscow_21).

So, when you will travel in Moscow (and other Russian towns), please, be careful... :)
